Street parties quickly come to mind when thinking and hoping for the lifting of Lockdown.
We want to enjoy our freedoms with our neighbours and we are desparate to recover or build our community spirit.
From 21st June full street parties could is now possible with no social distancing, according to Government rules.
Start planning now with your neighbours for your August event, though Septemeber is best.
You may want to hold a quick informal Street Meet with drinks and snacks, without a road closure in a garden, on a pavement, driveway or green space, and drink a toast with friends and neighbours – while followong any distancing guidelines if need be. This would not need any permissions from your council etc.
You may find that some in your street may still want to socially distance, or even someone in your street may have had a difficult time with the illness or even died. So you may want to plan your event with sensitivity and in memory of what has happened. Perhaps have a Thanks and Thoughts board.
During the full lockdown here is what some streets in Bristol are doing with neighbours in a Guardian article.
