The royal wedding on 19th May 2018 of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is a traditional chance to meet your neighbours in a street party. And so is the FA Cup Final!
Everything you want to know about street parties is on this website to help you build community spirit.
When the royal wedding was announced street parties were immediately on people’s minds, as is the tradition since 1919.
Closing your road, and ideally avoiding insurance should be a simple matter. It takes about 3-10 weeks to plan it, depending on your council’s road closure procedure.
Or more quickly you could just have a ‘street meet‘ without closing your road or any paper work, as long as your neighbours are supportive.
It is all explained in our Guide.
AND it is the FA Cup Final – what a day!
So you can plan around watching one or both on the TV – the wedding starts at midday with TV coverage from 11.30 to 2pm-ish. The FA cup final starts at 4.15pm.
Or you can watch them in highlights later and spend time with your neighbours and play with the kids in the street.
Talking to your neighbours face to face is the key to encouraging everyone to join in, whether or not they are a royal fan.
And bunting is a must to transform the street.
