Oxford has had 54 street parties which is the highest number since 1977. This involved over 4000 people taking part.
This dynamic city has really boosted neighbourliness in communities with events which have focused on the 3rd weekend in September, as covered by the local Oxford Mail.
This is as a result of huge efforts by the Oxford Civic Society’s Oxstreets campaign.
This was supported by Streets Alive having a local paid Associate to work especially in estates, with training and negotiating with the City Council to simplify its procedures.
As a result, the Council but its full weight behind promoting neighbours’ street parties. It has very clear guidance and procedure, as can be seen here.
