Neighbourhood Watch and street parties

Neighbourhood Watch groups often hold street parties to get people together. More residents will attend, unlike meetings. It is a chance to have a chat about the community safety issues.

Also, knowing your neighbours better reduces fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Street parties are more social and lighten things up a bit, rather than always worrying about crime.

Some police forces like Avon & Somerset actively promote street parties to get neighbours together.
